Competence Centre Programme
The general objective of Competence Centre Programme is to improve the competitiveness of enterprises through strategic cooperation between science and industry sectors in Estonia. To achieve this aim Enterprise Estonia supports the establishment of small R&D institutions – the competence centres.
Competence centres are small R&D institutions established and operated together by number of companies and universities. Main characteristic of such centres is strong focus on applied research, which is needed for the product development of the founders of these centres.
The first call for Competence Centre proposals was announced in February 2003. The second call was announced in 2009. Currently there are eight competence centres:
1. Competence Centre of Food and Fermentation Technologies;
2. Bio-Competence Centre of Healthy Dairy Products;
3. Estonian Nanotechnology Competence Centre;
4. ELIKO Competence Centre;
5. Competence Centre for Cancer Research;
6. Software Technology and Applications Competence Centre (STACC);
7. Competence Centre on Reproductive Medicine and Biology (CCRMB);
